Scottish Borders Council is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Engineer to act as a Project Engineer within the Engineering Design section of the Roads Service Team. The successful applicant will assist the appropriate Team Leader in the delivery of engineering construction projects through design, procurement, construction and handover stages.
The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate suitable experience of civil engineering design and construction and have knowledge of the appropriate design standards and guidance. They will also have:
The ability to deliver engineering construction projects through the design, procurement, construction and handover stages to agreed standards
The ability to deploy resources effectively to meet work and contract requirements and customers’ expectations
The ability to undertake tendering and procurement procedures including supervision and monitoring of contractors, consultants, sub-consultants and other specialists
The ability to assist in preparing and reviewing project briefs including consultation and to estimate, update and report project costs as necessary
The ability to ensure that design / construction standards are maintained, contract conditions met and statutory functions properly discharged
Educated to degree level in Civil Engineering or appropriate discipline or present evidence of comparable experience and training.
Professional qualification achieved through the Institution of Civil Engineers or Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and hold Chartered or Incorporated membership, or willing to obtain within agreed timescale on appointment.
