Location: Central Library and Community Libraries Citywide

Duration: Fixed term – 12 consecutive weeks; 13 posts @ 34 hours per week

Applicants appointed to these posts may also have the opportunity to join our pool of Casual Relief Staff on successful completion of their 12 week contracts.

Working pattern: as per attached rota (indicative)

Job Purpose:

To work as part of a team responsible for the delivery of high quality front-line Library and Information Service to the public at any library service point


The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

4 standard grades at a level 1-3 or equivalent including English and a Mathematics subject

PVG Membership for regulated work with children and/or Protected Adults or willingness to obtain this before a formal offer of employment is made

Agreement to work evenings and weekends on a shift pattern at various locations across the city

Ability to carry out the physical nature of duties; such as the movement of books and other resources between and onto shelves and floor walking


The post holder is expected to demonstrate:

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Ability to assist and support customers to use library services and facilities

Ability to work accurately with detailed information

Ability to handle cash and to conduct cash reconciliations
