Location - Base office can be either Cheltenham GL52 8YQ, Glasgow G2 5HN or Bournemouth BH8 8AL - regular travel required as part of the role

About the role

Capita Life and Pensions and Specialist Services are embarking on a year of growth and opportunity and we are looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to consult with new clients and drive our business plan.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a strong background in business development within the Financial Services industry and ideally have contacts in Life and Pensions, as well as wider sectors including telecommunications and utilities.

You will be offering our Managed Services across our specialist service function which includes Finance, Actuarial, Underwriting and Claims, Capability Development and Operational Excellence. You will identify and develop new relationships and use your expertise to generate and secure new business revenue.

What you will do:

  • Accountable for identifying new business opportunities and developing successful relationships in order to generate revenue

  • Listen, engage and consult to ensure we create compelling proposals to effectively meet the needs of the client

  • Lead and support client bids to deliver an agreed revenue target

  • Provide commercial input and use your expertise and market knowledge to develop successful business development strategies

  • Use your own contacts within financial services and other market sectors to identify additional new market opportunities

  • Work successfully and in collaboration with the SS SMT and other internal colleagues to ensure knowledge and expertise is shared and business development behaviours are embedded into the culture

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Demonstrable success of new business development within financial services outsourcing and/or contractor placement

  • Demonstrates gravitas and engaging communication skills

  • Experience of working within financial services, ideally life and pensions.

  • Able to work autonomously and take accountability for own performance

  • Highly organised and comfortable working under pressure

  • Flexibility in working hours and locations to meet the demands of the role (Travel requirements are currently UK wide)

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio to at least intermediate level
