Required for our hatchery at Geocrab, to contribute to the careful rearing of salmon from egg through the fry, parr and smolt stages, prior to the transfer to sea. This varied and highly interesting role includes daily fish husbandry duties, environmental monitoring, health checks and size grading as the juvenile salmon develop.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and dedicated individual with a keen attention to detail. They will be comfortable working in an outdoor environment, able to operate well as part of a small focused team and work flexibly to meet the demands of the job, which would include weekend work and an ‘on-call’ rota. Applicants must live within a 20 minute drive of the Geocrab hatchery and a full clean driving licence is essential. Previous freshwater aquaculture experience would be desirable, although full training will be provided. A strong technical aptitude or a scientific interest and knowledge would also be beneficial.
