Liberty’s Aluminium division owns and operates the only remaining aluminium smelter in the UK – Liberty British Aluminium.

Based at Fort William in the Scottish Highlands since 1929, the smelting facilities are powered by a combination of renewable energy sources which makes the site one of the greenest metal production plants in the country. 

In addition to serving the international market with semi-finished aluminium, Liberty is investing £120m to upgrade the smelter and add value through the development of downstream manufacturing on site. We are currently recruiting for a CAD/ Draughting Technician and to be successful in this role you will be an excellent communicator, self- motivated and possess excellent planning abilities, as there will independent working and the requirement to work within a wider team, providing support & services to the Engineering Department and site.

You must also be able to demonstrate and work to the highest level of Heath Safety & Environmental standards in line with the company’s expectations and targets.  


Role & Responsibilities

Production of designs and drawings for site projects.
Provide drawing packages for site Engineers for projects.
As built and site modifications of existing site plant & equipment including any required site survey works.
Minor site Engineering Projects.
Modernise the existing paper-based drawing records to electronic storage and access.
Update, develop and maintain the Engineering Drawing & Technical document management systems.
Modernise & manage the engineering projects / Site BS-ISO standards library.
Manage internal and external contractors.


The role will involve 2D and 3D CAD design and draughting covering mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic piping, electrical and single line diagrams, and P&ID’s. 

The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of document control systems, database system development & management.
