Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week
As a Community Liaison Manager in Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission, your primary purpose will be to plan, implement and report on effective community engagement that supports the development of SHE Transmission’s grid network. This will be achieved through timely engagement and maintaining good relationships with key stakeholders.
You’ll provide advice on the potential requirement for community engagement and, when a requirement is identified, work in conjunction with the project delivery teams to prepare and implement a coordinated activity schedule and associated communication plan. You must be able to engage and influence constructively and successfully with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority, internal and external to SSE, to ensure plans are effectively shaped, understood, and communicated.
In your role, you’ll also manage the creation of all engagement material with support, when necessary, from a designated external design agency. This may include project display boards, brochures, posters, newspaper adverts, press releases, mail drops, letters and newsletters. In addition, you’ll work closely with our Corporate Affairs team for external political input and continuity of press and media activities. In conjunction with Corporate Affairs you will prepare and maintain project web-sites (and other social media platforms) ensuring most up to date information is made available to stakeholders.
This is a busy and diverse role, allowing you a perfect opportunity to learn about our business, and be at the forefront of our projects.
Your Skills & Experience
Your role will be varied, and often involve a range of diverse projects; therefore, you’ll be a highly organised individual, with an ability to work under pressure, and to often tight deadlines.
We ask that you also have knowledge and experience of stakeholder engagement, with preference for community focussed engagement, and experience of preparing appropriate engagement material. An understanding of the utility sector (with preference for energy networks) and the contribution of Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission would be advantage.
The role will involve travel across the North of Scotland and may on occasions require evening working and being away from home overnight.

SSEN operate and maintain electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England. Our customers are served by over 4,000 employees based in major offices and depots across the regions we operate in including Reading, Portsmouth, Perth and Inverness. Our mission is to power our community, and we’d like you to join our journey.
We have an excellent benefits package as part of our offering. Here’s a few highlights;
