Salaried GP, Mallaig & Arisaig Medical Practice An opportunity has arisen for a Salaried GP or two job-sharing Salaried GPs to join our remote and rural West Highland General Practice. We work Monday to Friday with no Out of Hours commitment. An initial one-year fixed term contract may lead to a permanent post by mutual agreement. We are keen to hear from GPs who would like to explore flexible working patterns, eg single-handed in a two-weeks-on two-weeks-off rota, or longer if manageable (three-weeks-on three-weeks-off…). Any options will be considered. The Mallaig & Arisaig Medical Practice provides care to 1800 permanent patients and our care responsibilities extend to many more temporary residents who visit the area especially during the summer months. Our Practice is based in the port of Mallaig. The Practice area extends north to the Knoydart peninsula (accessible only by boat), and south through the villages of Morar and Arisaig to the communities in Lochailort & Roshven and on to the village of Glenuig. You will provide undifferentiated front-line Primary Care, and need to be robust and stress tolerant. Working days are nominally 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday but flexible patterns are very much encouraged. You will be part of a two/three GP team, but will work single-handed; the frequency of this depends upon your agreed working rota. We work in a NHS-owned Health Centre in the village of Mallaig. We share the building with the Community Nursing Team and work very closely with them. We have one part-time Health Care Assistant but no Practice Nurses. Our Admin Team is experienced and excellent. We have visiting Allied Professionals who are based in Fort William, which is approximately one hour away. The Belford Hospital in Fort William is our nearest District General Hospital and provides General Medical and General Surgery services, and an A&E unit. Experience of Rural General Practice would be very beneficial, as would previous A&E exposure. Salary is dependent upon the working pattern agreed but will be in line with the standard salaried GP remuneration. Salary will take account of the degree of flexibility and time off arrangements. We are willing to discuss this more fully with interested candidates. The post is eligible for a £10,000 Golden Hello and an additional £5,000 relocation package. This job would suit an experienced GP, or two job-sharing GPs who wish to provide high quality care to a vibrant traditional West Coast fishing & crofting community, and who can see the benefits of a flexible working pattern. Please direct all enquiries to Dr Iain Gartshore, We encourage you to arrange an informal visit if you are interested. The start date is as soon as possible, but negotiable for the right candidate/s. Closing date is Friday 15th June 2018.
