East Lothian is looking to expand its pool of child centred and well valued Foster Carers and this post has been created to specifically support this challenge,

This is a new and exciting opportunity to join an established Fostering and Adoption team and take the lead in the recruitment of new Foster Carers. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic senior practitioner with a passion for Foster Carer recruitment and great IT skills. Applicants should be confident in using a range of social media platforms and have the ability to engage on line and face to face with local communities to increase the profile of Fostering and attract the best future carers for East Lothian's young people.

While there will be an element of Foster Carer supervision and senior duty, applicants should be aware that this post is specifically focussed on recruitment and Foster Carer development.

Due to the nature of the post, some evening work is necessary. Applicants will be required to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service.

A Post Qualifying Award in either Practice Teaching or Child Protection is essential.

Job Details

To recruit, train and support foster carers, permanent kinship carers and adopters for children unable to live with their birth parents.

To provide an advanced level of practice that ensures appropriate services are provided to meet client needs within the department’s statutory obligations and departmental policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Essential: Approved qualification in Social Work, and SSSC registration.
Posy qualifying award in Child Protection
Full current driving licence and access to a vehicle*

This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
