It is our vision in East Lothian to provide the best education service in Scotland. We aim to achieve this by working in partnership with the public, voluntary and private sectors to build an East Lothian where everyone has the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life which contributes to a fair and sustainable future. The New Haddington School is at the forefront of our ambitious strategy and is at the centre of our vibrant learning community working towards raising attainment and achievement for all.
Following a recent statutory consultation process the decision was taken to close two existing schools, serving Nursery to Primary 3 and Primary 4 to Primary 7, and open one school across the two existing campuses Nursery to Primary 7. We need an innovative and determined school leader to play an influential role to establish a shared learning community based on shared values ensuring that our young people achieve the best educational outcomes. To be successful you will utilise your highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills to inspire and motivate teachers and to continue to build a secure and trusting partnerships across the Haddington Community and beyond.
The new school is co-educational and non-denominational and is situated in the town of Haddington. The secondary school catchment area is Knox Academy. The school roll is 739, which includes nursery pupils. There is a nursery class which operates a morning and afternoon session. There are 27 teachers responsible for classes P1 to P7 and 2 Deputy Head Teachers. Currently there are two active and well established parent councils who are supportive and keen to work collaboratively to support the transition to the new school with one new Parent Council. The aim of the school is to create a caring and secure environment where everyone feels happy, confident and valued.
