Locharbriggs Primary School
Locharbriggs Primary School, situated in the outskirts of
Dumfries, is a seven teacher school with a roll of 130 pupils and a 26 children in the nursery.
Following an Education Scotland inspection, there is an opportunity to further bolster the management team at Locharbriggs with a view to driving forward key developments. Raising attainment in literacy and numeracy as well as meeting learners’ needs is the focus of this new post.
Consideration for the Principal Teacher role will be given on a part-time basis. You will provide effective leadership of learning and teaching in our primary school and carry out related activities and developments following local, national and school policies under the direction of the Head Teacher.
You will also ensure that successful learning outcomes are achieved for all pupils as well as management activities within the school and across the learning community.
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
This is temporary until August 2019.
This post forms part of Dumfries Learning Town schools and/or the bridge to deliver courses as part of the BGE and /or senior phase curriculum as appropriate to meet the needs of our learners (see attached documentation).
