About the Role
You’ll work closely with Scotland’s people of all ages who are experiencing difficulties in their career planning and development. In particular, you’ll work directly with young people at school and college, unemployed MCMC clients, adult JSA claimants referred from JCP and employees at risk of redundancy.
You’ll deliver career information, advice and guidance through a coaching approach, to all age clients through a range of different channels to facilitate the development of career management skills, including lifelong learning ambitions. As facilitator and advocate, you’ll work, through a range of partner agencies, to inspire, motivate and encourage clients to achieve their full potential.
This is a full time, fixed term contract until 31/03/2019. The role is based in Kirkwall, Orkney.
Skills Development Scotland is the national skills body supporting the people and businesses of Scotland in building highly productive workplaces through the development of skills across the range of industry sectors. SDS plays a key role in driving forward Scotland’s economic future through their delivery of the Scottish Government’s economic and skills strategy. SDS helps the skills and learning system to better respond to the needs of the economy and help individuals benefit from a variety of learning and skills development opportunities.
You’ll possess a Postgraduate Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (QCGD) or equivalent qualification which is the PostGraduate Certificate in Career Guidance coupled with SVQ Level 4 in Careers Advice and Guidance.
You’ll be able to demonstrate strong interview and coaching skills with a broad knowledge and understanding of policy and practice in the field of career guidance.
