To assist in the maintenance of the Council's fleet of public utility vehicles and plant and also non fleet vehicles or plant inspected or maintained by the authority.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate ResponsibilitiesTo undertake individual role in line with the Council’s business objectives and in compliance with the Council’s corporate policies and procedures. To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.
Role Specific Tasks & ResponsibilitiesServicing, diagnostic inspection and repairs of defects in the full range of public utility vehicles within the Council's fleet of light and heavy vehicles, Sweepers, compact and HGV plant and power engine units Ensuring that the fleet complies with current legislation Ensuring repairs and servicing are completed in accordance with manufacturers specifications The preparation and submission of vehicles for ministry of transport testing Ensuring compliance with the Operator Licence and Council policy Ensure accurate and timely documentation is properly prepared and presented to meet statutory and legal obligations including the use of computerised maintenance recording and time recording systems Ensure you continually reflect on your performance and maintain the skills and knowledge required to remain competent in your role
ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Education and QualificationsApplicants must be time-served HGV mechanic, and/or qualified to a minimum of City & Guilds Standard or relevant equivalent
