Job Description

Contract Type: 2 Year fixed term

Salary: The salary for this position is FC 5. You will be paid 50% of £19297 in year 1 and 80% of £19297 in year 2.

These vacancies are restricted to applicants who currently live in Fife. You must also be aged between 16 and 24 as at the 12 August 2018.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to gain experience and knowledge of the whole of the Care at Home Service within Fife. The apprenticeship period will cover all aspects of the service including time spent as an Enablement Carer, Scheduler, Home Care Co-ordinator and Assessor for packages of care.

Whilst an Enablement Carer you will provide support and care for service users and their carer’s in meeting the assessed needs through goal setting objectives. Work as part of a team and liaising with colleagues to ensure an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach.

As a Scheduler, to ensure that all care provision meets the individual needs of the service users by maintaining the electronic scheduling tool and committing resources on an as required basis. To make quick decisions in relation to committing of resources on occasions of a carer absence to ensure that services are provided at the earliest opportunity to service users.

The Co-ordinator role will monitor the quality of the service delivered and adherence of carers to service policies / procedures by conducting quality reviews of the service. Carry out monthly reviews / revisions on an ongoing basis of each service user in your defined locality observing staff practice and correcting when unsafe. Ensure the safety of the staff member and the service user by making changes to the plan of care. Updating documented care plan, including risk assessment / handling plan.

The Assessor role will carry out initial assessments and reviews of service users needs including ensuring an accurate careplan is in place that meets the needs and outcomes of the service users.

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

The Individual

Successful candidates should have IT skills and be able to embrace technology. Have the ability to work well within a team and have good communication skills. The ability to engage with others and form part of multi-disciplinary settings to achieve common goals.

Throughout the apprenticeship you will undertake a programme of continuous professional development and be willing to undertake SVQ qualification training to level 3 in Health and Social Care.
