Knox Academy is a state school situated in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. At census 2017 the roll was 751. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming school. The school is accessible to all.
The curriculum provides a full range of subjects from Sl-S6. We aim to meet the needs of all the pupils, providing a curriculum that is appropriate in terms of breadth, depth and challenge. We endeavour to treat all pupils as individuals and hope that they, their parents and the community will work in partnership to provide them with the support and opportunities that will enable them to make their next educational steps. The Learning Support Department forms part of the Support for Pupils Faculty (Guidance, Learning Support and Pupil Support). The department is vibrant and forward thinking, and plays a key role in a wide range of teaching and learning activities, from our highly successful literacy programme, to nurture and the transition process. The department works closely with colleagues across the school, particularly in pupil and pastoral support. The department is open, welcoming and inclusive and prides itself on doing what is necessary to help all learners achieve to, and beyond, their potential.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, energetic and with the ability to communicate their enthusiasm to the pupils and other staff and with a track record of delivering effective learning support and nurture. They should be prepared to demonstrate a commitment to self-evaluation and lifelong professional learning.
The post is vacant from Monday 20th August for a start as soon as possible after that date. The preferred pattern of work is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday but there could be some flexibility which can be discussed at interview.
Teachers who join East Lothian Council during the school session will only be entitled to a pro-rata salary and annual leave entitlement until the end of the session. A calculation will be carried out upon commencement and pay will be adjusted in the first available pay period to ensure they are paid correctly. Educated to Degree Level in a relevant subject and able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
Registered with GTCS as a teacher
For Permanent Posts: Full GTCS Registration is required.
For Temporary Posts: Full/Provisional GTCS Registration is required.
