Becoming a Senior Network Technical Design Authority with Capita IT Services

Candidates are expected to have demonstrable, large-scale network architecture experience, combined with good consulting skills and an understanding of how network technologies impact on...and are impacted by other IT infrastructure technologies. This role requires a level of customer facing ability, documentation production and extensive hands-on engineering skills in collapsed IP/MPLS networks.

What you will do:

  • Be able to translate customer business and technology requirements that can vary in detail, and produce high quality network solutions, at both high and low levels of detail

  • Be able to deliver designs to defined standards, often against challenging timescales

  • Provide input to technical designs provided by other CNS technology groups - a level of “cross-functional” technical knowledge is highly desirable

  • Provide direct, credible and authoritative interaction with CNS colleagues and customers alike

  • Actively contribute to continual service delivery improvement

  • Function as a line manager to other TDA team members and also act as Subject Matter Expert for other members of the SWAN technical teams

Your experience will include:

Essential Experience/Skills

Key technical skills include:

  • Routing & Switching (Cisco or Juniper)

  • Firewall Solutions (Cisco, Palo Alto, or Juniper)

  • Load Balancing (F5)

  • Experience with PPP, CHAP and Radius Authentication

  • Hands on implementation by you of your own design changes are typically done out of hours

Candidates will be expected to have demonstrable senior experience, and will likely be working towards achieving a CCIE or similar accreditation, and may possess a combination of the following:

  • Cisco CCNP/CCDP (Routing & Switching and/or Service Provider)

  • Checkpoint CCSA/CCSE

  • Cisco CCIE or JNCIP/JNCIE
