Having successfully completed a first pilot year, our 'edge of care' service is entering into an exciting new chapter, building on our experiences to provide support to families with the aim of preventing a child or children from being taken into care.  We work with families who are struggling and who need help for a variety of different reasons.  Our workers spend time with the children, young people, parents and carers to understand what the family needs to thrive.  We understand that family life can be difficult and no matter what the reason is, our approach is always sympathetic and non-judgemental.  The challenges that families face mean that support may be needed at all times of the day and so various work patterns are available to enable us to engage with families when needed, whilst maintaining appropriate work/life balance for the staff team.

This role involves working with children, young people and parents/carers either on a one to one basis or in groups, using an asset based approach to build their capacity and resilience.  As well as being involved in planning, designing and delivering work, you will assist in assessing and evaluating the services we deliver whilst working with families and other key people.  You will be skilled in supporting and challenging parents, enabling them to build on their parenting and caring skills whilst taking account of culture, values and abilities of the families.  Developing positive relationships with individuals, groups and communities to enhance family and community capacity to support vulnerable families is a key part of this role.  The successful candidate will be skilled in maintaining accurate records and contributing to reports for a range of audiences, including commissioners of the service.

We have a variety of roles and hours available.

If you feel you have the required skills and values to make a positive contribution to this role, please go to our website and click on the 'work with us' link where you can apply on-line. If you have any queries please e-mail: .  Applications are welcome from minority groups.

Aberlour is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all our service users and uses a thorough and rigorous recruitment and selection process including PVG Scheme checks to ensure this commitment is not compromised.

Applications to be returned by: noon on Thursday 11th October 2018

We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic, energetic and committed individuals who share our vision that collaborative early intervention and engagement is the best option for children and families who are on the 'edge of care'. You will have experience of direct practice within this field of work, including child/adult protection issues.  Experience of working with children with additional support needs would be desirable but is not essential.
