Are you inquiring and independent-minded? Do you have personal knowledge and experience of the financial and operational management and internal control of large public organisations?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an external applicant to join Falkirk Council’s Audit Committee as member and convener Falkirk Council is committed to the highest standards of corporate governance. The remit of the Council’s Audit Committee is to have high level oversight of the Council’s framework of corporate governance, risk management systems, and associated internal control environment. To fulfil this remit, it seeks assurance from the work of internal and external auditors and other inspection agencies and from the Council’s risk management arrangements.

The Audit Committee membership currently comprises six Councillors and a non elected member as Convener. This ensures the robustness and independence of the Audit and Scrutiny Committee’s operations.

Our ideal candidate will be inquiring and independent-minded and able to assist the work of the Committee by personal knowledge and experience of financial and operational management and internal control of large public organisations. Your duties as an external member will include attending 5 scheduled meetings per year and associated Convener’s pre meetings, as well as appropriate mandatory training and development events. Your appointment will be for a fixed period to the next local Government elections in 2021 and is on a voluntary basis, although travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed.

You will be required to work 10 days per year.
