We are looking to recruit a creative an innovative childcare practitioner who puts play at the heart of learning for young children. You will have a sound knowledge of play and take a pedagogical approach to children's learning. Supported by the play assistant you will plan and create an environment which acknowledges children's interests and uses these to encourage children to explore and challenge their learning, both inside and out. You will lead by example in support of both the play assistant and pupils working in the playroom. You will create opportunities for pupils to ensure that outcomes are achieved in regard to knowledge about attachment, early literacy and play and how this supports children's learning and development in the early years. In addition you will guide and support pupils considering childcare as a career, and promoting positive destinations for others. You will be confident in communicating with a range of people and familiar with supports available to families within East Lothian.
To work as an effective member of an early learning and childcare team delivering high quality
child led early learning experiences for young children and their families.

Educated to HNC in Childcare and Education or SVQ3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development (CCLD), or equivalent qualification.
SSSC registration or agreement to register within 6 months from the date of appointment to this post is essential.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups are required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
