We currently have an opportunity for an experienced individual to lead our Landscape Architect team.
To be a success in this role you will have a flexible approach to your work. On a day to day basis, you will be responsible for undertaking projects, representing the Council at various forums, implementing policy and change initiatives, ensuring legislative requirements are adhered to, monitoring relevant budgets and supervision of staff.
You will be expected to assist in developing and implementing landscape strategies. To be a success in this role you will be a successful communicator and to allow you to liaise with and build effective working relationships with local communities, elected members and other statutory bodies.
Educated to degree, SVQ5 level or equivalent, in Landscape Architecture or a relevant subject you will be a Chartered member of an appropriate chartered institution or organisation. Equally important, you will be a confident communicator, customer focused and have the ability to work to tight deadlines whilst producing a high standard of work. Experience of undertaking large project work and supervising staff is desirable.
You will have substantial relevant work experience, particularly in contract management and processing financial documents and transactions. You must demonstrate an ability to understand and apply financial procedures for contract standing orders, as well as knowledge of relevant legislation and initiatives. Substantial experience in the field of landscape architecture is essential to this role. Also essential, is knowledge of health and safety issues and Microsoft Office packages.
You must hold a current drivers licence as you will be expected to travel throughout the area of North Lanarkshire Council outwith public transport routes.
You will be required, should the Service deem it necessary, to participate in an out of hours standby service for which you will receive the appropriate payment.
The post is advertised as full time; 35 hours per week with a Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 4.45pm and 8.45am to 4.15pm standard working pattern however, we would also welcome applications from candidates seeking part-time employment and individual requirements can be discussed at interview.
