Head Teacher, Winchburgh Primary school, 35 hours per week, closing date 28th October 2018

Winchburgh Primary is a non-denominational school with a roll of 214 primary children and a recently extended 60/60 nursery. The school benefits from a mixed catchment area with a Free Meal Entitlement of 19%. The school shares a campus with Holy Family RC Primary School.

Winchburgh is a rapidly expanding community due to significant house building in the area and the school roll continues to rise. Both schools work together to effectively utilise the shared campus and there are rich opportunities for joint working. A recently completed extension has provided a new ELC and has also created two further early years classrooms.

The school currently has 9 classes and is staffed by a Head Teacher, a Principal Teacher, an Acting Principal Teacher and 12 Class Teachers. In the ELC there is a well-established team of Early Years practitioners. The school is supported effectively by a team of Pupil Support Workers, who assist pupils across the school. Clerical support is provided by an Administrative Assistant. The school runs a very successful Breakfast Club.

West Lothian Council is committed to a policy of staff development. Staff will be expected to participate in training and learning events as appropriate to their professional needs and as approved and agreed by the Depute Chief Executive.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
