Technician - Engineering

Full time – 35 hours per week

Main Location: Midlothian Campus


Band E £23,120 to £24,799 per annum (appointment is usually made at the first point of the salary scale)

Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the exciting post of Technician - Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join a flexible team of professionals in supporting the provision of a quality teaching and learning environment at the College.

The Engineering team delivers a wide range of education and training across all Engineering disciplines; mechanical manufacture, fabrication and welding, automotive service and repair. This post is key in ensuring that staff and students are appropriately supported with preparation of learning materials by supporting the Mechanical and Automotive curriculum.

What you can offer us

Educated to HNC level/SVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline, you will have knowledge of safe working practices and a good knowledge of the Mechanical/Automotive industry.

You will have relevant Automotive and/or Mechanical Maintenance industry experience and must also possess relevant welding discipline experience and experience of providing advice and information. You will be required to carry out routine maintenance of equipment through regular stocktaking, so you must have experience in record keeping systems and procedures, while experience of servicing/repair and ensuring machinery is maintained correctly and operated in accordance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) is desirable.

You will also be required to assist in training and supervision of any new Technician and/or work experience students, therefore a ‘can do’ attitude is required.
