Job Summary

For Part-time and Term-time hours salary will be prorated

Monday and Wednesday: 9am – 3.30pm

Tuesday and Thursday: 9am – 4.15pm

Friday: 9am – 3.15pm

45 minutes for lunch each day

Working in Douglas Academy you will assist the school with various non-teaching duties including administration, preparation of teaching materials and supervision of pupils during intervals and lunch time.

Under the direction of the School Support Manager you will support the Home Economics Department for around 15 hours per week, which includes general assistance and food preparation. You will also support other departmental Principal Teachers and whole school activities, by providing clerical support service to assist in curriculum delivery.

In order to support the welfare of pupils you will undertake a first aid training course and you will administer first aid when required. In line with school requirements you will also assist with reading/scribing duties as required during examination times. You should be literate, numerate, able to work as part of a team and possess good interpersonal and IT skills.

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
