The Harris and Lewis Smokehouse is a newly completed salmon smokery located in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, which blends modern technology with traditionally designed kilns and curing methods to produce a premium product for the global market. The Smokehouse only uses premium fish harvested from the pristine waters around the islands and treats them with the care and skill that such a high-quality food deserves.
The Isle of Lewis is the largest island of the world-renowned Outer Hebrides, off Scotland’s West Coast. As well as the stunning scenery, clear waters and abundant wildlife this area is regularly rated as being one of the best places to live in the whole of the UK. Stornoway is the major town in the islands and is well provided for in terms of services, facilities and transport links to the mainland.
The Production Manager will be responsible for running our purpose-built smokehouse facility, managing a small team of operatives. You will manage all work activities and necessary resources for our brand new site in Stornoway.
In this exciting new role you will be responsible for developing a site strategy, ensuring all H&S and Quality standards are maintained, monitored and reviewed. At all times striving to make our business best in class and maintaining the highest of standards including BRC.
You will also establish appropriate KPIs to drive improvements against the budget without compromising standards as well as working closely with all other functions on site to meet and ideally to exceed targets.
The Right Person
With a broad background in manufacturing, particularly in fresh food and smoking meat or fish product, you will be a positive leader with a track record in promoting a food safety culture, able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills as well as cross functional management, budget management and production process management experience.
