The Assistant Assessor will manage the Shetland office and will be based in Shetland.
The postholder supports the Assessor and Electoral Registration Officer in carrying out his/her statutory duties in accordance with the Orkney and Shetland Valuation Joint Board’s values, objectives and targets. This includes the following functions: Non-domestic valuation for rating and council tax valuation for domestic subjects. The Assistant Assessor manages the Board’s Shetland office ensuring these statutory functions are properly discharged in this area along with the Orkney office in the absence of the Assessor & Electoral Registration Officer.
Requirements You should be a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors; You should have experience of valuations for rating and council tax; And, experience of participating in a professional capacity within the Court system including that of expert witness; You should be a good communicator with a track record of service improvement You must have the ability to travel throughout Shetland and Orkney at short notice and where public transport is limited Additional Information The salary shown in the advert is inclusive of a Distant Islands Allowance of £2,094 per annum; A Market Forces Supplement of 30% is included in the salary shown in the advert. Such supplements are temporary and reviewed every 2 years with a view to withdraw, increase or decrease in line with changes in the market.
