Based within the Trading Standards Team within Protective Services at Fife Council’s Kingdom House building in Glenrothes, we are looking for a high performing enthusiastic officer who is committed to making Fife a better place to live, work and do business in.
Trading Standards Officers will hold the DTS (or equivalent) and will carry out the full range of duties and functions of qualified officers. Applications will also be accepted from those who are currently working towards attaining the Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (Legal Metrology must be one of the modules) and will qualify by the last exam cycle of 2019.
You will also be challenged to develop your skills and expertise further and be encouraged to take the lead role in investigations and, where required, particular areas of work.

To work effectively in a Trading Standards team with colleagues and partner agencies to protect and support legitimate businesses and consumers from harm by conducting investigations, carrying out business inspections and dealing with complaints in respect to the legislation enforced by Fife Council as a Local Weights and Measures Authority.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and ability to apply investigative skills and techniques. Ability to take initiative and to develop work practices, policies and procedures. Ability to deal with people at all levels and in all situations and to take a lead role and work as part of a team.The Individual
Diploma in Trading Standards (DTS) or equivalent Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (DCATS) qualification which includes Weights and Measures, and at least 2 other modules. Current full driving licence, PVG Membership for Regulated work with Children and/or Adults or the willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
