Tutor - Introduction to Counselling - Part-time

You will teach for 2 hours per week over approximately 15 weeks, although some of the teaching hours may be carried out on Saturdays to allow for extended workshop activities.

The course is based around SQA unit H2XN 11, and you will be responsible for assessing your students in line with the unit's requirements. 

The teaching days and times for this course are subject to negotiation, and there could also be opportunities for the right candidate to teach on other programmes.

Payment will be at the standard Certificated hourly teaching rate, which is £30.21 per hour plus an hourly payment in lieu of £9.46, giving a total hourly rate of £39.67.

 

You will be educated to at least SCQF level 6 in counselling, you must have a high level of enthusiasm and passion for teaching this subject. Your strengths must include excellent communication skills, as well as a capacity for positive engagement and motivation of students. A high degree of confidentiality and sensitivity to the students' personal experiences is also essential.

If you are interested in a teaching career, this would be a good start.  You do not need to hold a teaching qualification just now, but the opportunity would be available for you to undertake a teaching qualification in your first year with the college.

Successful candidate will be subject to an application to join Disclosure Scotland Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
