Within East Lothian, we provide day opportunities for adults with physical and learning disabilities across three sites, Fisherrow (Musselburgh), Port Seton and Tynebank in Haddington.
The day services support service users to engage in structured and outcome focused activities within the centres as well as engaging with the community to develop new skills and opportunities.
Candidates must be experienced in identifying and meeting the needs of these service user groups and have previous experience of working with behaviour that may be of a challenge would be of benefit. We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic individuals who are highly motivated and will be able to deliver high quality support to meet personal outcomes. You will be expected to work flexibly as part of a team, covering all Resource Centres as and when required.
The service operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 830 -1600 Monday to Thursday and 0830-1400 Friday, however working hours vary between the resource centres.
To deliver high quality Day Services which meet the assessed needs of individual service users, promoting independence and enhancing East Lothian’s role as a provider of learning disability day services, in accordance with the values and principles of the National Care Standards, and within the policies and procedures of the Council.

Essential for Qualified rate of pay:
HNC in Social Care and SVQ3 or equivalent and be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through previous experience.
Essential for Unqualified rate of pay:
Good general standard of education, eg. SVQ2 Level 2/Highers (including English) and be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through previous experience.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
