Royal Mail is looking for a highly driven individual, with a flair for thinking outside of the box, to join its Senior Operations Team as the Plant Manager at our Chester Mail Centre.
About the role
Reporting into the Processing and Collections Director, this key operational role is responsible for ensuring our Plant runs smoothly, delivering the processing plan in a safe, customer focussed and commercially driven manner. This exciting and fast paced role will give you the chance to make waves throughout the business by driving and implementing national change initiatives, developing the business plan for the plant and working to achieve all unit and personal KPI’s.
As the Plant Manager, you will lead a diverse team of middle and senior managers, holding overall responsibility for performance management, health and safety, performance reporting and delivering for our customers. Holding a budget of c£20m, you will be required to manage several key stakeholders both across the Group and externally.
This is truly an exciting, challenging and rewarding role at the very centre of our operation. As the Plant Manager you have a real chance to make a genuine difference to the business and gain national exposure.
A self-starter, you will have significant leadership experience at a senior level and the ability to manage both tactical and strategic elements. You’ll be an experienced operational leader with relevant experience. You will also have drive, determination and a willingness to embrace and embed change. Communication is key to this role, and you will be able to manage senior stakeholders and engage a large, unionised and diverse workforce.
A strong financial acumen would be a huge advantage, as would project management, decision making and excellent interpersonal skills. Due to the fast paced nature of the role, we are looking for someone who can remove barriers and make change happen in the plant.
Degree level or equivalent experience is desirable, but most of all you must be a strong leader, an inspirer of people and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering success.
