Part-time Learning Technologist

0.5 FTE, 12 month fixed-term contract

We have an opportunity for a part-time Learning Technologist on a 12 month, fixed term contract. You will have strong IT skills and a flair for creating engaging, online learning solutions. This role plays an integral part in our Learning and Development team's ambition to transition from “courses to resources”. We want to create first class, online learning resources that enable colleagues to learn quickly and efficiently. We are seeking a highly professional learning specialist who will design, build and deploy e-learning solutions and learning resources for use across the business.

    Main Accountabilities

    Content/Learning Management System

  • Familiarise yourself with our business model and, working with the wider L&D team, recommend/identify an appropriate, affordable content/learning management system(which will be the place where learning resources will be housed).

  • Drive the steps in the process from agreeing a contract to the system going live.

  • Organise a roll out of the system to learners across the firm.

    Creating/curating e-learning content

  • Ensure business learning needs are met by identifying needs and creating e-learning content on specific topics of interest to learners in the firm.

  • Re-purpose existing course materials into online learning resources.

  • Drive learner engagement by enhancing the look and feel of the online resources and curating high quality web-based learning.

  • Work with the L&D team and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from the business to identify needs and build engaging and high quality interactive e-learning solutions to meet business requirements.

  • Build strong working relationships with SMEs to create storyboards for online learning resources.

  • Have strong technical and technology skills, comfortable with creating video content.

  • Support the Learning and Development team to use less face to face development and more online development solutions.

  • Source high quality, low cost (and open source) learning content.

    Reporting

  • Create and implement new monthly report which measures L&D activities and in addition begins to report on impacts

  • Review and analyse existing online learning packages in conjunction with SMEs and the L&D Team.

  • Build relevant reports and analyse the data against KPIs, creating exciting ways to visualise the data to support the business to improve compliance and performance tracking take up of online learning.

    Build learning technology skills in firm/L&D team

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to utilise learning technology in the business, for example via business change projects

  • Continually develop your knowledge of the business as well as professional knowledge of learning technologies to ensure the business is benefiting from latest technology and learning methodology.

  • Transfer knowledge/build L&D technology skills in L&D team

    Key experience and qualifications required

  • Can demonstrate a track record in designing, building and deploying engaging e-learning modules

  • Must be able to quickly build strong working relationships with SMEs to develop learning content.

  • Strong sense of stakeholder awareness and be able to build quality relationships and rapport with colleagues.

  • You will have strong inter-personal skills and excellent written communication skills.

  • High level of expertise in using e-learning authoring tools and video software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Captivate.

  • Experience of working with external partners to embed web-based learning applications and systems

  • Experience of creating video screen casts and running webinars using Skype or similar

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the LMS Market and latest developments

  • Experience of maintaining an LMS and delivering learning technology through the LMS to engage learners

  • Experience of effectively communicating key messages and information to a wide range of learners with an ability to present technical information in a way that learners can relate to

  • Advanced IT literacy and ability to learn systems quickly

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience of analysing data to provide meaningful information to stakeholders

  • Hold a recognised Learning and Development or Learning Technology qualification (desirable)

  • Experience of creative web design
