Location: Marischal College
Duration: Permanent, Full Time

As Lead Officer you will provide the professional support to the Child Protection Committee in the fulfilment of its duties in accordance with national and local priorities. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of the CPC activities including the work of any sub-committees and working groups.

You’ll be educated to degree level with a relevant professional qualification in social care, health, education, policing or in an appropriate discipline and have a detailed professional knowledge and understanding of the policy and legislative framework of child protection as well as national developments in child protection.

You will have demonstrable experience of partnership working and an understanding of multi agency involvement in change and improvement. You will have experience of self-evaluation and inspection . In addition, you will have the skills required to be innovative and to deliver change in a multi agency environment.

Job Purpose:
The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination, strategic planning and monitoring of Child Protection work on behalf of Aberdeen City’s multi agency Child Protection Committee.

Requirements

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

Educated to degree level or equivalent
Post qualifying experience in child protection related work

Responsibilities

The post holder is expected to demonstrate:

Ability to lead, manage and participate in work as directed by the Child Protection Committee
Ability to use all methods of communication to report, engage, influence and gain support in order to achieve the aims of the Child Protection Committee across the network of children’s services in Aberdeen
An understanding of the relationship between policy development at national and local level
Ability to develop strategy, policy, procedure and standards
Ability to analyse and present management information
Ability to identify priority outcomes, develop action plans and monitor performance and impact on service delivery
Ability to identify and raise relevant issues with senior staff in Aberdeen City Council and with other partners
