Duration: Relief/Casual

Location: Aberdeen Childcare Services - Cornhill & Loriston Early Learners

Job Purpose:

To work as a member of a team to create a safe, happy caring environment appropriate to the social, emotional, intellectual, physical and cultural needs of the children and young people attending the service.



The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

SVQ level 3 in CCLD or Playwork Experience of direct work with children, young people and families

The post holder will be expected to:

Register with SSSC as a support worker

Comply with SSSC codes of practice

Undertake core training yearly

Have a good knowledge of GIRFEC and the Pre- Birth to three guidelines

Maintain appropriate CPD and training relevant to the post for self and others

Promote an inclusive ethos within settings

Be aware of the relationship between high quality services and the promotion of children’s learning and development.


The post holder will be expected to:

Ensure all regulations, policies and conditions of use are observed and complied with at all times

Provide for the care, welfare and health & safety needs of children in the age range of birth- 16 years

Participate in all aspects of team work including preparation, maintenance and care of resources, cleanliness and hygiene

To assist Childcare Practitioner as and when required, being responsible for the registration of children and to carry out routine administrative tasks including handling of cash and fees.

Promote positive behaviour in children and encourage good relations with parents

Have a proactive approach to continuous professional development and participate in individual, team and service development
