Job Description

To generally administer the various responsibilities assigned to the Payments Section concentrating on:

Banking & Treasury Management Services

Insurance Services

For the council and associated companies

Working with colleagues to maintain a generic, flexible approach to tasks assigned to the Banking team

Requirements

To provide the full range of banking services

To provide the full range of insurance services

To administer the disbursement of Trust and Common Good monies

To issue and record stocks of controlled stationery

To assist with the development of Payments Systems

Handle various enquiries both written and verbal

To Train Departmental and Section Users of Payments systems

To work closely with other members of the Banking team to ensure all responsibilities are carried out according to set timescales - specifically acting up arrangements to cover for the Senior Payments Officer, as required

The Individual

Significant general Finance administration experience

Finance/Administration HND/HNC qualifications

Knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet applications, preferably Microsoft Word and Excel.

Procedural skills

Effective organisational skills including time management

Self confident and self motivated

A flexible approach to new working practices and technology

To work on their own initiative when required to specified deadlines

Appreciation and acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.

Willingness to accept direction delegation

The ability to work as part of a team and to use own initiative

Effective communicator – both written and verbal

Ability to work in a shared office

Work under pressure to tight deadlines

Ability to work in different offices dependant on service requirements

Temporary - Maternity Cover on a Job Share basis

Starting Salary: £17,756 (pro rata)
18.13 hours per week
£9.42 per hour
