Glasgow Caledonian University is a vibrant multi-cultural modern university in the centre of Glasgow and is placed amongst the top 150 modern Universities in the world (THE, 2017).
The School for Work Based Education (SWBE) delivers education across the UK and globally in the form of transnational education in partnership with third sector and private sector organisations.
As part of SWBE, we are embarking on new Graduate Apprenticeships in Scotland, Degree Apprenticeships in England with a focus on supporting working people to develop their education at Degree, Postgraduate and Doctorate level across a range of disciplines in the UK and internationally. Although degree-level apprenticeships are new, GCU’s expertise in delivering this type of work-based education is not – and we are keen to grow our team to ensure that we remain leaders in this field.
This role is a new and critical role for GCU’s UK University to business offerings through SWBE. Through our partnership with Skills Development Scotland and as providers on the Register of Apprenticeship Providers in England, we are the only Scottish university delivering both Graduate and Degree Apprenticeships across the UK.
This is a unique opportunity to carve out your own niche in a new and rapidly developing area in higher education. We are looking for an individual, who thrives on working with a diverse range of stakeholders, has a passion to deliver high-quality work-based education, and who enjoys the challenges and rewards of providing excellent and relevant coaching and mentorship to our apprentices, and their employers.
Your role will be to support employers and their apprentices to identify and develop relevant and appropriate work-based assignments and projects within our part-time, apprenticeship programmes. This is a lynchpin role for the university – the success of each apprentice impacts on our performance and on our relationships with clients and apprentices alike.
You will need stamina, creativity and a solutions-based approach to all your work. The role is based in Glasgow with requirement to travel nationally.
If you have any specific questions about this role or would like to discuss informally, please email Marty Wright, Academic Head of School at firstname.lastname@example.org
