Role overview
We are currently recruiting for Transport Supervisor to be based at our Lingerton site in Lochgilphead. The successful candidate will report to the Contract General Manager and be responsible for the supervision of drivers and movement of material throughout Argyll and Bute.

Key Responsibilities:

Working closely with Site Supervisors and operational management to ensure seamless operational effectiveness.
Provide a safe working environment for staff and visitors in all relevant areas
Meeting contracted customer demands
Ensuring vehicles are cost effective and efficient and highlighting loss making fleet movements to the General Manger with recommendations for improvements.
Introduce best practice process to engender a continuous improvement culture
Meeting with sub contractors as and when required to discuss contractual performance.
Ensure that the transport fleet complies with all appropriate legislation with particular reference to the Road Transport Directive in the Working Time Regulations
Attend Operations Meetings with Local Authority as and when required.
Conduct regular checks of driver’s hours and tachographs and ensure that drivers are informed of their hours and any infringements in each reference period. Ensure each drivers performance is managed appropriately where required.
Travel throughout Argyll and Bute.
Scheduling Vehicles.
Implement and monitor relevant KPI’s including all haulage charges and health and safety standards
Identifying and managing training needs
Ensure the vehicle fleet is maintained in accordance with Management Standards and Operating Procedures.
Providing a point of contact for drivers, sub-contractors and customers on evenings and weekends

Experience, Education and Qualifications:

Essential

Class 2 HGV Licence
In depth knowledge and experience of all transport legislation 
Self motivated and disciplined and able to perform autonomously
Organisational ability
Ability to drive performance and surpass company targets
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, adaptable to a diverse variety of audiences
Well-honed problem solving skills
Computer literate including full use of MS Office
Ability to meet  deadlines 
A high degree of flexibility
Financially literate
Ideal

Knowledge of specialist equipment used in Renewi business
CPC
Understanding of waste management regulations
IOSH Managing Safety
