Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is the planning authority for the Outer Hebrides, an area renowned for environmental quality, beautiful scenery, outdoor opportunities, low crime rates and good schools.
Working within the Development Department, you will be required to provide professional planning services to enable the Comhairle to fulfil statutory planning duties and related tasks. The post is expected to be based within the Development Management team with a focus on large scale windfarm planning work.
You will hold Full or Associate Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute and have proven experience of a significant breadth and depth in Development Management / Development Plan work. Previous experience of EIA development and windfarm planning is desirable. In addition, you must have: good knowledge of current planning legislation and associated guidance; good interpersonal, listening, negotiation, verbal and written communication skills; ability to accept responsibility and work constructively within a small team; ability to organise and prioritise own workload; and ability to work in a modern PC environment, including MS Office, e-mail and internet. A current driving licence and access to vehicle is essential.
Appointment to the post is fixed term for 1 year.
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade.
