Network Rail owns, manages and develops Britain's railway ' the 20,000 miles of track, 40,000 bridges and viaducts, and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations (the largest of which we also run). In partnership with train operators we help people take more than 1.6bn journeys by rail every year - double the number of 1996 - and move hundreds of millions of tonnes of freight, saving almost 8m lorry journeys. Group Digital Railway is a national function within Network Rail, its purpose is to deliver operationally excellent services that enhance today's railway, alongside the strategic vision, leadership and capability which will transform the railway of tomorrow. We bring together the industry-wide Digital Railway Programme, which is setting the vision and strategy for tomorrow's railway with services that are supporting delivery both today and in the future. Enhanced by the ORBIS programme, we provide the data-to-intelligence expertise, asset information and telecommunications products and services necessary for a digitally-enabled railway.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of railway and construction industry forms of contracts as well as experience in commercial management of investment projects. Ideally although not essentially you will be educated to degree level and be a member of a relevant professional institution (or working towards).
The DRP will change the face of the UK railway and transform the railway of tomorrow, and this role represents a unique opportunity to be a key part of that transformation.

The Commercial Managers role is to provide post-contract commercial leadership over medium value/medium risk activity. The role is also there to support pre-contract activity within the project delivery team's scope of work; providing specialist commercial advice, guidance and recommendations to mitigate commercial risks.
