Living in Helensburgh
Live in Helensburgh and you can have a foot in both camps, no wonder it is such a popular place to live.
It is within commuting distance of Glasgow and is part of its rail network, but Helensburgh is part of Argyll and Bute and within minutes of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Some of the finest countryside and outdoor activities are close at hand.
It is well-served by national supermarket chains and still has a vibrant high street with independent shops. All of the full-on entertainment and culture of Glasgow is within easy reach and Glasgow International Airport is a half-hour drive away.
Helensburgh is home to Hermitage Academy high school and the independent day and boarding Lomond School.
The Tower is Helensburgh’s impressive multi-use digital arts centre which shows films, live on-screen showings and theatre and events. The town has a thriving selection of clubs and organisations; Helensburgh might have links to the big city but it still has the feel of a smaller country community; walking along the town’s esplanade, looking out across the expanse of the Clyde you would think Glasgow was a world away.
