Living in Inverurie
Agriculture has always been at the heart of life in Inverurie, and to this day the mart at Thainstone is one of the biggest in the UK making this an important place for agricultural support services.
Inverurie’s closeness to Aberdeen has brought oil industry services to the town as well. It has also brought plenty of commuters who want to live in the countryside; not just those who work in the city, but many who work out on the North Sea platforms as well.
The town has both the benefits of closeness to a big city but the benefits of still retaining its country market town values and sense of community.
Together these all make Inverurie one of the fastest growing towns in the UK.
The closeness of Aberdeen, 16 miles away, means access to all that the third largest in Scotland has to offer. It is home to an international population and offers a lifestyle befitting a world-class player in the oil, gas and renewables industries. With all the buzz you would expect of a major city with a cosmopolitan population Aberdeen offers high quality shopping, hotels, dining, café life and entertainment. The town is also on the rail line between Aberdeen and Inverness. Its airport has links to all major UK destinations and to Europe plus ferries from the port to the Orkneys and Shetland.
Inverurie Academy is the high school for the area and takes pupils from nine primary schools in all, from the town and surrounding villages.
