Research Jobs

A famous soldier once said: ‘Time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted’ and you could just as easily substitute the word research.

It is a word which can summon up so many visions: a PhD student working for the latest bio-tech start-up; a white-coated scientist in a government-funded laboratory, or someone calling you up when you are in the shower asking for whom you are most likely to cast your vote.

A researcher could be sitting in a politician’s office in Holyrood, Cardiff or Westminster. Or they could be sitting number crunching in the office of a specialist research company, or standing in the middle of a field in a howling gale collecting soil samples.

Major consumer product launches, government initiatives, the next series of your favourite TV show and even a new, scented brand of kitty litter won’t be finalised until the data has been gathered, the questions asked and analysed and for that you need research and researchers.

And this is why there are so many jobs available if you key in the word research and also why, if you excel in your chosen field, there are good rewards and opportunities to advance your career path.
