Weekend Jobs

A good weekend job is the equivalent of a Swiss Army penknife; it has got a useful tool for every career need.

Let’s face it every one of us has, at some time in our lives, had a weekend job.

As a kid it is a great introduction into the world of work. It gives you the independence of having your own cash for the first time in your life. It also gives you an important first entry on your CV.

It will impress any future boss. Helping muck out at the local livery stable shows you are not afraid of hard work.  Serving behind the counter in a busy local bakery has given you cash-handling skills and the ability to work under pressure when dealing with the general public. (Remember the crazy rush, with the queue out of the door on the Saturday before Christmas?).

Just ask round and you will be amazed at the number of people who have gone on to have successful careers or all-important first jobs at an SME thanks to their excellent performance in a weekend job.
