Ardochy & Rona Estate, a remote island estate between Skye and the West Coast of Scotland, accessible only by private boat, came to HiJOBS seeking an Estate worker & partner to join the island's population of just two.

Recognising the widespread appeal of the idylic opportunity that the job offered, HiJOBS worked with Island Manager Bill Cowie and his wife Lorraine to create a promotional piece tailored for press coverage.

Our team quickly pulled together a high quality press release about the job, the island and it's history as well as the qualities any candidates would need to floruish in the role. With our links at news desks, we were able to get the piece in front of the foremost publishers in the UK and beyond within a week.

"Offering full-time salary for the Estate Worker and part-time hours for their partner, the package also includes accommodation, complete with stunning coastal views, on the five-mile-long island. The perfect antidote to the stresses of modern working life, the successful candidates will trade the Northern Line for the Northern Lights; swap staring at screens for sunsets over Skye’s Old Man of Storr and ditch the rat race for roaming with deer."

The Result

The piece received coverage from news and media outlets in print, radio, online and on social creating an international buzz and directing interested parties to a dedicated microsite.

Performance Metrics

The listing was viewed by over 34,000 potential candidates in the space of two weeks.

Bill and Lorraine received 368 applications from the campaign and after carefully reviewing each one employed not just one but two couples from the shortlist. Their chosen candidates were only able to make the permenant move to take up post after 6 months, so with the overwhelming response there were plenty of willing candidates to work on an interim basis, too.
