Advanced Job Search
Keyword search tips
You can use two types of search:
Simple search (default): Just type what you’re looking for — for example, care assistant jobs —
and we’ll use semantic search to find results that match the meaning of your words, not just the exact text.
That means a search for engineer might also find technician or mechanic.
Boolean search: Add special operators or symbols to take full control of your results.
Use these if you want to include, exclude, or combine specific words and phrases.
| Example | Description |
|---|---|
| "trainee driver" | Finds results with the exact phrase "trainee driver" |
| "trainee" AND "driver" | Finds results that include both the words trainee and driver |
| "trainee" OR "driver" | Finds results that include either trainee or driver (or both) |
| trainee -driver | Finds results containing trainee but not driver |
| +trainee | Requires the exact word trainee to appear in the results |
| ~trainee | Finds trainee and related synonyms (like apprentice) |
| train* | Finds words that start with the prefix train (like training or trainer) |
| [trainee driver] | Finds results where trainee appears near driver |
