Living in Fraserburgh
Say Fraserburgh and most people think fish. It is said to be one of the biggest shellfish ports in Europe, if not the biggest, and a major white fish port. Boats and their maintenance, the refrigeration and selling of fish and the transporting and processing of the produce form the back bone of the local economy. This a town with a proud heritage and fishing goes back generations in some families. The first mainland lighthouse was built here so it is fitting that the town is home to a lighthouse museum.
Surrounded by miles of golden sand beaches and with a superb links golf course more and more people are thinking of Fraserburgh as a tourist spot and it has a thriving hospitality jobs sector.
With a population of over 12,000 Fraserburgh also offers a good range of jobs in retail and service industries.
Aberdeen, 40 miles to the south, is where Fraserburgh folk go when they want a big city experience, with all the buzz you would expect of a major city with a cosmopolitan population Aberdeen offers high quality shopping, hotels, dining, café life and entertainment.
The international airport at Aberdeen has links to all the major UK destinations and beyond and a national railway link, including the Caledonian Sleeper. Fraserburgh itself does not have a rail link, the nearest station is Inverurie.
Fraserburgh has four primary schools and pupils go on to complete their secondary education at Fraserburgh Academy with a college of further education North East Scotland College, in the town.
